Commercial motor vehicles with a GVWR of 10,001 or more

 

Frequency: Annually

What is it?

The annual DOT Inspection is required of all commercial motor vehicle that has a GVWR of 10,001 or more by the U.S. Department of Transportation - Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)

 

What are the requirements?

Requires motor carriers to repair defective or missing parts and accessories listed in the regulation including: brake system, coupling devices, exhaust and fuel system, lighting devices, safe loading, steering mechanism, suspension, frame, tires, wheels & rims, and windshield glazing & wipers.

An inspection report must include date, name and address of motor carrier and service provider, vehicle ID information and a certification that the vehicle has passed the inspection.
